Gaviota translates to seagull in Spanish. Our name is inspired by the wonderful fable Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach.
Jonathan was a seagull who wouldn’t settle for his community’s routine of fishing and sleeping. He knew there had to be more to life.
As curious and brave as he was, Jonathan embarked on a journey to maximise the speed of his flight. Day by day he would study different techniques to become the fastest seagull in history. And as he did, he also embarked on an adventure of self discovery and spirituality.
Jonathan discovered the true purpose of his life which, beyond becoming the fastest flyer, was to live a life full of love, and encourage others to do the same. He then became a bright leader in his community and inspired hundreds of seagulls to follow his path of finding purpose in life.
This beautiful fable relates to our quest for meaning. It reflects the freedom we all have to follow our own path, which is not necessarily the one society imposes on us, but for sure the one that excites us and fills us with vitality and love.
And, just like Jonathan did, at Studio Gaviota we believe in the power we all have to go beyond the ordinary, become the best version of ourselves and inspire those around us to do the same.

A note from Maria, our founder.
I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and moved recently to the US after spending the past 12 years living in the UK and France. I am passionate about entrepreneurship, the health & wellness industry and all things digital design.
I’ve developed several business plans and websites - the first one being 19 years old. And even though I was a dreamer, I never pursued my plans as I didn’t feel confident enough. So for years I worked in digital design for other startups before taking the courage to start my own wellness space in which I taught meditation, yoga and other self development tools through workshops, online courses and a membership site. In just over a year, I built an Instagram community of over 15K beautiful people with one thing in common: the curiosity of becoming the best version of themselves.
After more than 10 years of experience in digital entrepreneurship, not only did I develop the skills to design a successful digital business, but understand all the self-doubt and fears one must face in the process. Through that I am able to see my clients’ dreams beyond their limitations, and discern this on the design briefing process. I am here to empower you to believe in your ideas and attract your dream clients with outstanding digital assets.
Being a yoga teacher and wellness entrepreneur with a strong academic background (thanks to my studies at Universidad de los Andes, Georgetown University and Central Saint Martins - University of the Arts London) it is very easy for me to relate to others in the industry. I speak your language and am here to help you make your dreams come true. With my help, you’ll be able to focus in your core activities, as I take care of the rest.
